HOME SELECTED WORK

"By Appointment" is a new show at Refusalon with twelve artists, and except for July 14th, in order to see the show, we are requesting that you call and give us advanced notice of your visit.

The artists in this show were not chosen to fit a theme; rather, their diverse work is all extremely evocative and enticing.

Historically, Refusalon had never participated in the gallery introductions in San Francisco, though Refusalon has always introduce emerging local and outside artists to the Bay Area. Yet this is now a chance to show the work of twelve new, exciting artists under the established umbrella of Introduction.

On July 14th, 11:00 to 5:00 pm, we will officially open the show; the artists will speak at 12:30 PM. The show will be up until July 31st.

Chris Perez has constructed four text-related incidents using sexual terms to exemplify love. Chris will also curate the next show in August at Refusalon.

Erez Golan will be presenting large-format enhanced photography.

Fellipe Dulzaides will be dealing with it through video. John Slepian is creating futuristic interactive computer generated images that get excited when they meet you. As you enter the scope of the object on the screen, it identifies you and gets excited as you approach it.

Yoram Wolberger is enlarging a toy soldier to human size, revealing unexpected flaws.

Rebecca E. Miller will present her ideas of gardening.

Tommy Becker is flipping the monitor screen to an unusual degree.

Michael Goedecke and Eric Saks are collaborating on a flat screen.

Geof Oppenheimer is strategizing formal engagements and perceptions of popular culture.

Sarah Hughes is back from Sweden to highlight her project, "Safe and Sexy."

Christopher O'Connor takes his first step into the Gentlemanâs Club.

Douglas Argue, in first appearance in the Bay Area after winning a fellowship at the American Academy in Rome, will be introducing us to his painting.

In addition, Refusalon is involved with other projects. At the Rene di Rosa Preserve, on July 10th, construction on Sam Yatesâ sixty-five foot tall file cabinet, "Minuet in MG," will come to an end after two years of engineering; let the celebration begin.

On July 12th, in Santa Fe, we will be collaborating with the University of Reno, Nevada, in Re-Know, a show about land, art, relocation, and reincarnation.

At the same time, Bill Fontana's sound installation is being constructed at the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle, Washington, with the PS1 sound show.

Additionally, Uri Tzaigs video piece "The Universal Square" is showing right now at MASS MOCA.

We invite you to come and experience any of these projects.
